AI/ML Engineer (Generative AI)
What is the role?
We are looking for an AI/ML Engineer to lead the integration of artificial intelligence into the AyuCI healthcare ecosystem. You will be responsible for building and deploying models that solve real-world healthcare challenges—from automating medical report extraction (OCR/NLP) to developing Generative AI assistants that help doctors summarize patient histories. You will work on the cutting edge of HealthTech, ensuring our AI solutions are accurate, secure, and seamlessly integrated with our core FastAPI and Node.js services.
About you
You are a Python expert with a deep interest in modern AI architectures, specifically Large Language Models (LLMs) and Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG). You understand that in healthcare, accuracy is non-negotiable. You have experience moving models from research to production and are comfortable working with unstructured medical data. You care about “AI Ethics” and data privacy, ensuring that all ML workflows are built with security-first principles.
Your Role at AyuCI
As our AI/ML Engineer, you will:
- Gen AI Integration: Design and implement LLM-powered features like automated discharge summaries, clinical note-taking assistants, and intelligent medical query systems.
- Data Extraction: Build and optimize NLP pipelines to parse lab reports (PDFs/Images) and convert them into structured data for our MySQL databases.
- Predictive Analytics: Develop models to predict patient trends, hospital bed occupancy, or billing anomalies to improve operational efficiency.
- Backend Integration: Collaborate with backend teams to deploy models via FastAPI, ensuring low-latency responses for real-time applications.
Responsibilities
- Develop, evaluate, and deploy machine learning models using Python.
- Fine-tune LLMs and implement RAG pipelines using frameworks like LangChain or LlamaIndex.
- Clean and preprocess diverse medical datasets while maintaining HIPAA-level data security.
- Monitor model performance in production and implement retraining loops.
- Stay updated with the latest research in Med-AI and Generative AI to keep AyuCI at the forefront of innovation.
Requirements
- 2+ years of experience in Machine Learning or Data Science.
- Strong proficiency in Python and libraries like PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Scikit-learn.
- Experience with FastAPI or Flask for deploying ML models as web services.
- Hands-on experience with OpenAI API, Anthropic, or open-source models (Llama/Mistral).
- Familiarity with Vector Databases (ChromaDB, Pinecone, or pgvector).
- Basic knowledge of the JavaScript ecosystem (React/Node) to better collaborate on full-stack integration.
- A degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
